As former Business Manager of the Great Plains Laborers’ District Council, John brings a breadth of experience to his duties as LIUNA Vice President and Midwest Regional Manager. Prior to his election to the District Council in August 1994, John served as Business Manager for Laborers’ Local 362 in Bloomington, Illinois, to which he was appointed to in 1976. Two years before that, he served in his first full-time union office, as Secretary-Treasurer at Local 362.

John is a 1979 graduate of the Harvard University Trade Union Program and before that attended Illinois State University and graduated from Bloomington High School. He served in the United States Air Force, with assignments in South Korea and Vietnam.

John leads by example. His commitment to community service is well known through his nearly 30-year involvement with the Special Olympics, McLean County Economic Development Council and the McLean County Democratic Party to which he has served as Chairman. His enthusiasm for service has influenced countless members and staff to get involved and give back to their community
