The Midwest Region Organizing Committee was established in 1998 to increase membership in to the Laborers’ International Union as well as to increase union-signatory market share in the construction industry. The Midwest Region Organizing Committee addresses both contractors and workers to educate, inform, and assist both realize the benefits of collective bargaining. Both labor and management benefits from union representation. Increasing the union’s membership builds strength through numbers at the bargaining table and in controlling the construction workforce. A strong workforce assists signatory contractors by providing them with a skilled and trained workforce and less competition from non-signatory contractors.
