The Midwest
Regional Office provides resources of the International Union
to assist 76 Local Unions and 7 District Councils across
Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma,South
Dakota and Texas.
Headquartered in Springfield, Illinois, the
Midwest Regional Office administers a variety of programs to
assist the Region's 58,000 Local Union members.
The Regional Manager and 7 International Representatives
administer the National Agreements, the LIUNA Constitutions,
and carry out the direction of the Union's General President
and General Executive Board.
The Midwest Region Tri-Funds Field Coordinator assists in
servicing the union's three joint labor-management programs,
the Laborers-AGC Education and Training Fund, the
Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust, and the
Laborers' Health and Safety Fund of North America.
Through the Laborers'-AGC Education and Training Fund, the
Midwest Region has 9 state-of-the-art training centers
that educates Laborers in basic and specialized construction
skills. The Training Centers also administer the union's
Apprenticeship Program for new members into the union.
The Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust
works with union-signatory construction contractors to promote
the benefits of union construction and to increase the market
share of union contractors. The Midwest Region has 7
LECET programs, in North Central Illinois, Southwestern
Illinois, Southern and Central Illinois, Eastern Missouri,
Western Missouri and Kansas, and Iowa, Nebraska, and South
Dakota.
The Midwest Region Laborers' Health and Safety Fund was
created in 1999 to protect the health and welfare of
Laborers. Through education, training, and promotion of
personal health and job safety, the Fund is protecting
contractors and members.
The Midwest Region Organizing Committee helps bring new
members into the Laborers by assisting workers to achieve the
benefits of collective bargaining and union
representation. Staff organizers work across the Midwest
Region assisting construction and non-construction workers
achieve a voice in the workplace.
