The Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA) was proud to welcome Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh to our Local 154 office in Arlington, Texas, on Friday afternoon to meet with members and local leaders. Walsh spoke passionately in favor of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act) to help grow Union membership, and the Biden Administration’s jobs and infrastructure plans guaranteeing big investments in the country’s workforce.

“We are proud to have the first Union member serve as Labor Secretary in nearly 50 years with Secretary Walsh being a card-carrying member of LiUNA,” said Jeremy Hendricks, Assistant Business Manager of the Southwest Laborers District Council. “It was an honor to welcome the Secretary to Texas and we look forward to all the good he’ll accomplish for American workers as we Build Back Better.”

Also attending the event with LiUNA leaders and members was Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, House Democratic Caucus Chair State Rep. Chris Turner, House Black Caucus Chair State Rep. Nicole Collier, State Senator Beverly Powell, and Tarrant County Commissioners Devan Allen and Roy Brooks, who were eager to discuss infrastructure spending, investments in workforce development, and the American Rescue Plan.

“Thank you to everyone for joining us to welcome Secretary Walsh and hear about the Biden Administration’s plans to put Americans to work,” said Local 154 Business Manager Larry Jaramillo.
