Laborers Local 751 and the Kankakee Federation of Labor donated $500 in $50 gas cards to the Run for the Fallen on June 19 in Kankakee to help with their expenses for their vans carrying runners.

Saluting Middle East conflict veterans since the U.S.S. Cole attack in 2000, the five-month run is crossing the U.S. to salute veterans, the fallen, and to honor military casualties of the War on Terror.

The 6,000 mile, 19-state coast-to-coast run spent seven days, traversing Illinois from Burlington, Iowa through Galesburg, Ottawa and Kankakee. Every mile the run stops to commemorate another fallen military member.

“We wanted to show our respect and gratitude for the men and women who risked everything to protect our country,” said Local 751 Business Manger Steve Pfingsten.
