Charlie Shempf Retires

The LiUNA Midwest Region congratulates Great Plains Laborers' District Council Business Manager Charlie Shempf on his retirement.

This May, 2018, Charlie will have been with the Laborers' Union for 45 years. He spent his first 25 years "in the ditches," as he says, and his experiences gave him a solid appreciation for what it's like to be a laborer. Charlie then went on to work for the district for the next 20 years out of Local 165 in Peoria. "It's been a real privilege to work for all the members out there," said Charlie.

In his retirement, Charlie looks forward to time spent golfing, fishing, traveling, and enjoying down time with his family - a wife of 26 years, a 23-year old son who teaches and coaches baseball and basketball, and a daughter heading to Illinois State University in the fall.

Best wishes to Charlie, and many thanks for his years of service!
